Sol LeWitt’s “Wall Drawing No. 256” (1975) was reproduced on the third building west to the library. A villager stared at it for a long time. When being told that it was a work by an American artist, he said he got it. “The lines represent trajectories of missiles. The U.S. is the world’s policeman and uses missiles to invade other countries. That’s what the artist wanted to express,” he said to Li Mu, “do I understand it correctly?” Li Mu replied, “Everyone has his own way of interpretation and you’ve made a good point.”
